Dear Colleagues,

This is our second letter of invitation regarding the forthcoming midyear conference of the Philosophical Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAP). This will be held on October 24, 2003 at the Rizal Conference Hall, University of Santo Tomas. This is co-sponsored by the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy of the University of Santo Tomas.

The theme for this midyear conference is Philosophy and Political Responsibility. This is line with our preparation for the coming general elections next year.

The plenary speakers for this conference are Prof. Paul Dumol, Ph.D. of the University of Asia and the Pacific and Fr. Luis David, SJ, Ph.D. of the Ateneo de Manila University.

For this one-day affair, the pre-registration fee is P1,000.00 and on site registration is P1,200.00. The fee will cover one meal, (lunch) and two snacks, conference kits and certificate of attendance and membership fee to the PAP. The deadline for pre-registration is on September 13, 2003. Kindly make checks payable to the Philosophical Association of the Philippines, Inc., and send to the UST Graduate School, Espana, Manila.

We are also calling on members to submit papers on the said theme, to be read during the concurrent discussions. An abstract should accompany the complete text and paper must be deliverable between 20-30 minutes. A screening committee composed of three PAP officers will deliberate on the merit of submitted papers and will choose four papers to be read during the concurrent discussions. A letter of approval and acceptance signed by the President will be sent to authors whose papers are approved. We are extending the deadline for submission up to September 20, 2003. Please submit papers to the PAP President.
